The DON is a direct employee of the agency that carries the responsibility and the authority for clinical operation of the agency, supervision and direction of skilled nursing and other therapeutic services furnished and the ongoing quality assurance program.
Director of Nursing shall:
a) Establish service policies and procedures in compliance with chapter 64E-16, F.A.C./Biomedical Waste, state health statutes and administrative rules, pursuant to s. 381.0011(4), F.S., which generally conform to recommended Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Occupational Safety and Health Agency (OSHA) guidelines for safety, universal precautions and infection control procedures;
b) Employ and evaluate nursing personnel; assuring the development and qualifications for professional services and the assignment of personnel;
c) Coordinate patient care services; and
d) Set or adopt policies for, and keep records of criteria for admission to service, case assignments and case management.
