Responsibilities:Health Information Technician I is a non-exempt clerical position that performs medical records functions for all VNA patients. Maintains confidentiality and integrity of all medical record documents as established by the State and Community Health Accreditation Program. Compiles, verifies and files in the medical record accurately and in a timely manner. Creates a new medical record for each new client served using protocol established by the Health Information Manager. Assembles records into standard order using the department procedure for filing of patient information. Files records in designated areas according to the Agencies current filing system. Ensures medical records are discharged in a timely manner as established by the Agency policy. Locates, signs out and delivers medical record requested by those who have access to the medical record as established by Agency policy. Prepares medical records for Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement activities or other Agency uses; established by the Health Information Manager. Completes request for release of information and initiates the billing process for copying charges.
Minimum Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent. One to three years experience in a Health Information Management department. Ability to accurately file and sort using alpha easy system. Working knowledge of medical terminology.Understanding of the State and Community Health Accreditation Program regulations as they pertain to home health care. Ability to use electronic health record to obtain information
